Music Together®️ is designed for children ages birth through kindergarten and their parents/ aregivers. At Music Together with Music and Me, we believe that music ability is as much a basic life skill as walking and talking, and that all children can learn to sing in tune, keep a beat, and participate with pleasure and confidence in the music of their culture. Music Together® classes nurture the child’s natural enthusiasm for music and movement as we sing, dance, chant, and play instruments in an informal setting that will enrich thier musical environment and guide them towards a lifetime of music-making enjoyment.
Please wear comfortable clothes for moving and sitting. Socks are required for Grown-ups and children in class, Grippy Socks are ideal.
Yes, we strive to have our classes feel like home and families are responsible for their own personal belongings. Neither Music Together® with Music and Me nor any of our locations are liable for any personal belongings.
Music Together Online: Your home, your rules. We do not encourage eating or drinking while singing and dancing.
Music Together®️ mixed age classes are designed for babies through 5 yr olds.
Rhythm Kids®️ by Music Together®️ classes are designed for children 4 - 8 yrs old.
This approach is based on research from music education, early childhood development, and family relationships, as well as our 30+ years experience in the field. "Tried and True" is long lasting, "New and Cool Fads" come and go.
Mixed-age classes also provide a rich learning environment because children of different ages thrive when they interact with each other: the babies are often fascinated by the older child, and the “big” children enjoy helping and sharing with the “little” ones.
In the 1980s, Music Together® pioneered the development of the mixed-age approach in early childhood music. In each class we strive to create a musically rich, developmentally appropriate environment where the whole family can enjoy music and nurture skills at the level right for each child. We do offer baby music classes for birth through 9 months of age at specific locations, at certain times of the year..
Music Together Indoors
Each class typically has 6- 12 registered children plus their primary caregiver(s).
Why Do We Require a Second Class Choice?
Availability in a class upon registration is based on the availability of the location, teacher, space in the class, and the number of families enrolled to make the class viable. We request a viable second choice so that if your first class choice does not move forward, you will be placed in you second class choicel, if it is not a waitlist upon registration. In that case you will have choos another second class choice.
Throughout the semester, Music Together® classes may be in session when older children have a school holiday. Older siblings of registered students may occasionally visit provided the older sibling is HEALTHY and that the visit is prearranged with us. Visitation spots are available on a first come, first serve basis. An older sibling is welcome to attend one time per session as our guest. After that there is a $25.00 guest fee.
Music Together Online: One Family Household is always welcome for one Family Tuition Fee. Pets, Toys, and Blankets always welcome.
Changes can be made depending on class availability. There is a $25.00 class switching fee if you choose to change your class after the registration deadline.
What if I need to withdraw from class?
Families wishing to withdrawal from class must do so before the registration deadline for each semester which is 10 days before the start date of a given session.

We understand that families may learn about our classes after our class session begins. We provide "catch -up classes" for late registrants to attend so that you have the opportunity to get in all of your classes for that session. Note that you still have your one (1) in person make-up' classes for each session. Late registration will be customized on a case by case basis.
Please feel comfortable to nurse your child in class, but we ask that you not bring food or drink into classrooms.
This is due to cleanliness and the fact that we do not know what allergies children in the class may or may not have. You may always step outside the circle for water.
Music Together Online: Your home, your rules. We do not encourage eating or drinking while singing and dancing.
There are two adults per child. If other grown-ups are visiting, please call Wendy at 718-229-0033 to see if there is room for extra adults to attend that week.
Whole family music making in your home is extremely valuable to your child's musical development, and attending class occasionally helps the other family members to join in at home.
Music Together Online: One Family Household is always welcome for one Family Tuition Fee. Pets, Toys, and Blankets always welcome.
As a parent, what is my role in class?
Enhance your child's experience in class by remembering to sing, sing, sing. Your active participation is the key to your children learning and growing musically. Support the creation of a music only environment while in class by not talking to your children or other adults during the 45 minutes. Since it is difficult for a young child to mask out adult conversation please wait to socialize till after class, and instead contribute to the creation of a musical environment for the children to absorb.
Try not to give verbal directions. It can be tough to restrain the impulse to give your child directives such as "Do what she is doing, hold your instrument this way” but children respond best by just seeing and hearing you doing (and enjoying) it yourself! Wandering toddlers is fine, but If you want your child to come back to you, avoid calling to him from across the room. If necessary, redirect your child physically back to you or the circle.
You must always be in the same room as your child. Of course watch out for your child’s safety. This is a Grown-up child class and it is the responsibility of the Grown-up attending class with the child to ensure the child's safety at all times.
Be sure to download your digital CODE for that song collections music. Play your music via download or CD at home and in the car as frequently as possible, especially during the first few weeks of class. Make it available to your child to listen to while she is playing or before nap or bedtime. Use your keepsake storybook designed for each semeste (12 collections in all) as a bedtime, playtime, naptime, snacktime...anytime experience!
New Music Together® parents receive: Helping Your Child Grow Musically”. During class your teacher will refer to topics and point out examples of things covered in the book.We are also happy to discuss your child's individual progress in obtaining musical competence at any time outside of class.
